Germany - An exotic getaway

Germany is the largest country in Central Europe and shares border with Denmark, France, Poland, Austria and Switzerland among other countries. It is made up of 16 federations each with its own culture and this facet of regionalism makes Germany one of the most diverse European nations.

Germany spreads over 350000 square kilometers and has more than 80 million inhabitants. Its capital Berlin is not as prominent a capital city as say London or Paris, yet it is one of the more fashionable cities of Europe and indeed the world. Like New York in the USA, the city of Frankfurt is the financial capital of Germany. Imperial Germany has had a very sordid history having been involved at the forefront of both World Wars. Adolf Hitler and his Nazi war machine marched all over the neighboring countries, attacking and taking over many of them until finally their devastating end came about in 1945 with the conclusion of World War II.

Germany is divided into five primary regions (North, South, East, West and Central) which contain its 16 federations. Western Germany is known in particular for the Rhine Valley. This is also wine country from where some of the world's finest Rieslings (a type of white wine) are grown and bottled. We will look at some of the key cities and their attractions:-

Berlin – The symbol of re-unified Germany, Berlin is home to the broken down Berlin Wall which used to divide the country into East and West Germany. The site of the (former) Wall is a popular destination for tourists. Berlin has an abundance of museums, art galleries and churches that one can see. The German parliament building, the Reichstag is a spectacular piece of architecture especially with its new glass dome and offers a fantastic all-round view of Berlin. The city also has plenty to offer to lover of arts and music with its numerous theatres, opera and concert houses. There's no better place for a clubber than Berlin with more than 200 different types of clubs catering to different types of music lovers.

Munich – Most people remember this city as the site of the 1972 Olympic Games massacre of Israeli athletes at the hands of the Black September terrorist group. However, Munich today is probably one of the safest cities you will find in Germany. It is a vibrant city with plenty of options for nightlife, restaurants, sightseeing and accommodation. A couple of hotels which are in the mid-range are the Hotel Wallis and the centrally located Cosmopolitan Hotel. Munich is also known for its world famous Oktoberfest which is a week long festival where all major breweries sell beer in big tents known as beer gardens.

Frankfurt – The financial center of Germany, Frankfurt unsurprisingly has one of the most futuristic skylines of any European city. Frankfurt is a major destination for trade shows across industries from stationary to textiles to automobiles. Aside from museums, Frankfurt has some wonderful Gothic architecture to be seen. The old area of Romerburg is quite popular with tourists in this regard.

In the Quran: Allah has created Eve from Adam’s rib

The Wind in Bible versus Quran (1)

This is the first article of the series:" The Wind in Bible versus Quran".

 

The Bible says that the Lord God has mouth, nostrils, feet and He was seen flying on the wings of the wind. The Noble Quran says that Naught is as Allah's likeness in attributes.  Any form, picture, thoughts that you put the Almighty Creator in it is absolutely wrong.

The Wind in the Bible (1)

 

In 2 Samuel 22:7-17, Kind David says:

In my distress I called to the LORD; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears. "The earth trembled and quaked, the foundations of the heavens shook; they trembled because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it.  He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet. He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.  He made darkness his canopy around him— the dark rain clouds of the sky. Out of the brightness of his presence bolts of lightning blazed forth.  The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.  He shot arrows and scattered the enemies, bolts of lightning and routed them.  The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of breath from his nostrils.  "He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.

Herein, there are some very important points:

1) The Bible describes the lord God, the Almighty Creator as He has mouth, nostrils, feet and He was seen flying on the wings of the wind.

2) The Bible describes the lord God, the Almighty Creator as a body which descends

3) The thunder is the voice of the lord God, the Almighty Creator.

4) The Lord God did and performed many movements and acts to save David.

5) The speed of the Lord God was that of the wind

6) The wind has wings!

All of these points are ABSOLUTELY denied in the Noble Quran because:

1) The Noble Quran says that Naught is as Allah's likeness in attributes.  Any form, picture, thoughts that you put the Almighty Creator in it is absolutely wrong.

2) The Almighty Creator is not a body

3) The thunder is not the voice of the Almighty Creator.

4) When the Almighty Creator decides upon a matter, when He wants to do anything, He only says to it ‘Be!’ and it is.  Hence, He could save David in fraction of a second if He willed.

5) The speed of the Lord God was that of the wind; for instance, does not He know the speed of the light?  However, Naught is as Allah's likeness in attributes. 

6) The wind has no wings!

7) The Great Prophet King David can not say that about the Almighty Creator simply because he knows better who Allah is.

17He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;

 

Young's Literal Translation

7In mine adversity I call Jehovah, And unto my God I call, And He heareth from His temple my voice, And my cry [is] in His ears,

8And shake and tremble doth the earth, Foundations of the heavens are troubled, And are shaken, for He hath wrath!

9Gone up hath smoke by His nostrils. And fire from His mouth devoureth, Brands have been kindled by it.

10And He inclineth heaven, and cometh down, And thick darkness [is] under His feet.

11And He rideth on a cherub, and doth fly, And is seen on the wings of the wind.

12And He setteth darkness Round about Him -- tabernacles, Darkness of waters -- thick clouds of the skies.

13From the brightness before Him Were brands of fire kindled!

14Thunder from the heavens doth Jehovah, And the Most High giveth forth His voice.

15And He sendeth forth arrows, And scattereth them; Lightning, and troubleth them;

16And seen are the streams of the sea, Revealed are foundations of the world, By the rebuke of Jehovah, From the breath of the spirit of His anger.

17He sendeth from above -- He taketh me, He draweth me out of many waters.

The Wind in the Noble Quran (1)

In this article, the following four points will be discussed:

1) The Wind and the similitude of the righteous works of the disbelievers

2) The Wind and the likeness of the disbelievers who are Anti-Islam

3) What if Allah wants to do anything?

4) The Golden verse (faith-wise) of the Quran that describes the Almighty Creator

1) The Wind and the similitude of the righteous works of the disbelievers

 

Verse 14: 18 says:

 

QARIB: as for the likeness of those who disbelieve in their lord, their works are like ashes which a strong wind scatters on a stormy day; they are powerless over that they have earned; that is the far error.

SHAKIR: the parable of those who disbelieve in their lord: their actions are like ashes on which the wind blows hard on a stormy day; they shall not have power over any thing out of what they have earned; this is the great error

PICKTHAL: a similitude of those who disbelieve in their lord: their works are as ashes which the wind bloweth hard upon a stormy day. they have no control of aught that they have earned. that is the extreme failure.

YUSUFALI: the parable of those who reject their lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a tempestuous day: no power have they over aught that they have earned: that is the straying far, far (from the goal).

 

The meanings of the verse:

 

In this verse, the Quran gives a similitude, the likeness, the description, of the righteous works of those who disbelieve in their Lord such as kindness [to kin] or an act of charity in the way that no benefit can be derived from them.

Allah says: the works of those who disbelieve in their Lord are as ashes which the wind blows hard upon a stormy day, one in which the winds blow violently, making them as scattered dust, over which none can have power. They have no control of aught that they have earned.

Allah says: they will not find the reward of their good works which were performed in their state of disbelief, just as one will not find ashes when the wind blows hard on it.  The disbelievers, have no power over anything that they have earned, [anything] that they had done in [their] life on earth, in other words, they shall find no reward for it, since this was never a precondition. That is extreme error, [extreme] perdition!

That is the extreme failure; the error which is far remote from the Truth or guidance.

2) The Wind and the likeness of the disbelievers who are Anti-Islam

 

Verse 3: 117 says:

 

QARIB: the wealth they spend in this worldly life is like a freezing wind that smites the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it. Allah has not wronged them, but they wronged themselves.

SHAKIR: the likeness of what they spend in the life of this world is as the likeness of wind in which is intense cold (that) smites the seed produce of a people who haw done injustice to their souls and destroys it; and Allah is not unjust to them, but they are unjust to themselves

PICKTHAL: the likeness of that which they spend in this life of the world is as the likeness of a biting, icy wind which smiteth the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves, and devastateth it. Allah wronged them not, but they do wrong themselves.

YUSUFALI: what they spend in the life of this (material) world may be likened to a wind which brings a nipping frost: it strikes and destroys the harvest of men who have wronged their own souls: it is not Allah that hath wronged them, but they wrong themselves.

 

The meanings of the verse:

 

The likeness, the description, of what they, the disbelievers, expend in the life of this world, in the way of enmity towards the Prophet Muhammad or in the way of voluntary almsgiving or the like, is as the likeness of a wind wherein is a blast, of extreme hot or cold, that smote the tillage, the crops, of a people who have wronged themselves, through unbelief and disobedience, and destroyed it, so that they could not profit from it; so it is with what they expend, it perishes and they profit nothing from it. Also, they have wronged themselves by not giving what is due to Allah from it, (and devastated it) ruined it; likewise, idolatry destroys one's spending just as wind destroys the harvest.

Allah did not wrong them, when they lost what they expended, but they wronged themselves, through unbelief, which necessitated this loss.

In other words, Allah did not wrong them by thwarting the benefit of their harvest and spending, but they did wrong themselves through disbelief and withholding what is due to Allah from the harvest.

3) What if Allah wants to do anything?

 

Verse 36: 82 says:

 

QARIB: when he wills a thing, his command is to say to it 'be', and it is!

SHAKIR: his command, when he intends anything, is only to say to it: be, so it is

PICKTHAL: but his command, when he intendeth a thing, is only that he saith unto it: be! and it is.

YUSUFALI: verily, when he intends a thing, his command is, "be", and it is!

 

The meanings of the verse:

 

His command, His affair, when He wills a thing, that is, [when He will] to create something, or to do anything is just to say to it ‘Be’, and it is.

 

Also, Verse 40: 68 says

 

QARIB: it is he who gives life and makes to die, and when he decrees a thing, he says to it: 'be and it is!

SHAKIR: he it is who gives life and brings death, so when he decrees an affair, he only says to it: be, and it is

PICKTHAL: he it is who quickeneth and giveth death. when he ordaineth a thing, he saith unto it only: be! and it is.

YUSUFALI: it is he who gives life and death; and when he decides upon an affair, he says to it, "be", and it is.

 

The meanings of the verse:

 

Allah is He Who gives life and brings death; No one else can do that. So when He decides upon a matter, [when] He wants to bring something into existence, He only says to it ‘Be!’ and it is.  In other words, it comes into existence after He has willed it, that which is signified by the said words.

 

----------------------------

 

4) The Golden verse (faith-wise) of the Quran that describes the Almighty Creator

 

Verse42: 11 says

 

QARIB: the originator of the heavens and the earth, he has given you from yourselves, pairs, and also pairs of cattle, thereby multiplying you. there is nothing like him. he is the hearer, the seer.

SHAKIR: the originator of the heavens and the earth; he made mates for you from among yourselves, and mates of the cattle too, multiplying you thereby; nothing like a likeness of him; and he is the hearing, the seeing

PICKTHAL: the creator of the heavens and the earth. he hath made for you pairs of yourselves, and of the cattle also pairs, whereby he multiplieth you. naught is as his likeness; and he is the hearer, the seer.

YUSUFALI: (he is) the creator of the heavens and the earth: he has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does he multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto him, and he is the one that hears and sees (all things).

 

The meanings of the verse:

 

He (Allah) is the Originator of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them [without precedent]. He has made for you, from your own selves, pairs, when He created Eve from Adam’s rib, and [also] pairs, males and females, of the cattle and whereby He multiplies you through marriage. There is nothing like Him; there is no likeness of Him, exalted be He). He is the Hearer, of what you say, the Seer, of your works.  Naught is as His likeness in attributes, knowledge, power and providence etc.

The basic point of faith is that Naught is as your Almighty creator.

Since man is a creature which has Spirit that gives him like; and since Naught is as the likeness of your Creator, then the Almighty Creator has NO SPIRIT.

Hence, the Almighty Creator is not a body or material like us.  Any form, picture or thoughts that you put the Almighty Creator in it is absolutely wrong.

According to the Islamic Rule of Faith, if any one put the Almighty Creator in any form, picture or thoughts, he or she is Disbeliever and has No faith; and he will end up in the Hereafter as a dweller of the Eternal Fire.

This is in spite of what name(s) you are giving to your Almighty Creator e.g. Allah, Lord, God, Jehovah etc.

On the other hand, the vice versa is absolutely True!

Jefferson City Missouri

Jefferson City was chosen as Missouris state capital in 1821 and was named after Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States of America. Jefferson City is nestled in the Ozarks on the banks of the Missouri River and is near the geographical center of the state. The city is located along Hwy 54, Hwy 50 and Hwy 63, is 30 miles south of Columbia, Missouri and almost centered between Missouris major cities of St. Louis and Kansas City. The City of Jefferson had a total of 39,636 residents, as of 2000 and the median age was 36 years.

Jefferson City has a deep historical background and illustrates a romantic atmosphere with many buildings dating back to the 1800s. The Lohman building was built in the late 1830s and is believed to be the oldest structure in the city. This three-story limestone treasure now exhibits transportation of the nineteenth century. Other historical attractions include the Missouri State Governors Mansion, the Carnahan Memorial Garden which was renamed in 2001 after the death of Governor Mel Carnahan, the Cole County Historical Museum and the Missouri Supreme Court Building. The city also embraces a long list of historical homes such as the Schmidt Apartments, Ivy Terrace, Towles-Buckner House, Oscar Birch House, Villa Panorama, Cole County Historical Society, Wendielin Buehrle House, Dix House, Upshulte House, Hugh Stevens House, Orchard Acres, Jefferson Female Seminary, Schroeder House, Oberman House, Parsons House and Sinclair-Hagner House that each add to the richness and ambiance found there.

Perhaps the most sought after attraction in Missouri is the Missouri State Capitol Building. The Capitols dome rises 238 feet about ground level and is perched on the bluffs of the Missouri River. The building creates a picturesque view of the city for travelers arriving from the north. Completed in 1918, the Capitol offers exhibits and tours that give a superb historical education of the State of Missouri as well as the building itself. Other museums and attractions in the city include the Missouri Veterans Memorial, Cole County Historical Museum, Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial, Missouri Veterinary Museum, Museum of Missouri Military History and Missouri River Regional Library.

Jefferson City sits on some of Missouris most beautiful terrain and offers an outdoor retreat with various parks and golf courses. Eagle Knoll golf course is ranked as the third best value in the nation and challenges all levels of play. Oak Hills Golf Center, Railwood Golf Course, Turkey Creek Golf Center and Redfield Golf Course are favorite places for visitors and residents alike. The City of Jefferson has numerous parks including Binder Park, Joseph C. Miller Park, Ellis Porter/ Riverside Park, McClung Park, McKay Park, Memorial Park and Family Aquatic Center, Miller Street Park, Washington Park and Cole County Park. Most notable is the citys portion of the famous Katy Trail.

Classic entertainment for the whole family can be found at the Marvic Skate Center, The Washington Park Skate Park, Washington Park Ice Arena, West Gate Lanes, Capital 4 Theatres and Capital 8 Theatres. The city also has a shooting range at the United Sportsman Club. City night life can be enjoyed at several night clubs such as Mikes Corner Pocket, Bones, Pitchers, College Club, Spectators and the Budweiser Inn Bar & Lounge.

The City of Jefferson appreciates fine art and is home to the Miller Performing Arts Center, Jefferson City Community Concert Association, Jefferson City Symphony, Little Theatre, Capital City Players and Stained Glass Theatre.

The Jefferson City Public School District operates Jefferson City High School. There is also a private school, Helias. Lincoln University is also a landmark institution and in 2004 was ranked fifth in diversity for graduates and seventh for having the most international students.

The shopping experience in Jefferson City ranges from quaint Mom and Pop specialty shops to chain stores as well as the Capital Mall. Top 100 golf courses - Erin Hills Golf Course

A wild Irish rover that unfolds over heaving farmland 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee is already named as the site of the 2011 U.S. Amateur. This Michael Hurdzan/Dana Fry/Ron Whitten design remains on the short list of possible future US Open venues. Stretching 7,824 yards from the back, Erin Hills has all the length it will ever need, plus an endless variety of lies, stances and angles.

Top 100 golf courses - Chambers Bay Golf Course

Having been named the site of the 2015 U.S. Open, Chambers Bay does not suffer from a lack of accolades, but this spiritual cousin to Ballybunion does suffer from misconceptions. First, unlike Bandon Dunes, which can be challenging to get to, Chambers Bay is practically a suburban park course, just minutes from downtown Tacoma, Washington and 45 minutes from Seattle-Tacoma Airport.

Second, do not let the tips yardage of 7,585 bother you: the slope from the back tees is only 135, so while this walking-only track will test your hamstrings, you will find it tough to lose a ball, which might be the true genius of the design.

Third, for anyone who has a preconceived notion of what a Robert Trent Jones II design is supposed to look like, forget it. Chambers Bay is a true collaboration of the RTJ II team which included Bruce Charlton, Jay Blasi and Jones himself. The golf course is simply a strategic masterpiece with wild elevation changes, split fairways, enormous dunes, tattered-edge bunkers and stunning scenery. It will give a great test to the participants of the 2015 Open.

Top 100 golf courses - Fallen Oak at Beau Rivage

Sure, it is an magnificent Tom Fazio design open only to guests of an MGM hotel 20 minutes to the south, but it is not quite fair to call Fallen Oak a southern-fried Shadow Creek. It stands on its own. While Shadow Creek was created from an absolutely barren landscape, this 7,487-yard layout flaunts its natural attributes, from the rolling terrain to its streams, lakes and wetlands. The Southern mansion clubhouse adds greatly to the Gone With the Wind ambience, but it is the individual holes that lift Fallen Oak from merely "pretty" to "pretty great."

Top 100 golf courses - We-Ko-Pa Golf Club

Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw have fashioned a fun romp through the desert with enough retro shot values and eye-candy backdrops to please both purists and tourists alike. We-Ko-Pa's Saguaro course features extra-wide fairways framed by its namesake cacti. The superb variety and imaginative green contouring, along with panoramic mountain vistas in every direction and no homes or roads on a parcel owned by the Yavapai Tribal Nation, create a worthy companion to We-Ko-Pa's seven-year-old sibling, the Cholla course.

Top 100 golf courses - Tidewater Golf Club & Plantation

Tidewater was once ranked in the high 30s on the Top 100 You Can Play list before slipping off. But the more things change, the more they stay the same. Tidewater offers uncommon elevation change and variety for the Myrtle Beach region. Holes 3, 4, 12 and 13 afford views of the Atlantic, while the closing trio skirts the Intracoastal Waterway. Architect Ken Tomlinson did not sprinkle mounds over the course, and so his bunkers and greens are on the flattish side, a design treatment that fell out of favor for a few years. But a recent reexamination of the course's virtues has vaulted it back onto the ranking of the top 100 golf courses.

Museums And Galleries In Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the nominal capital of the Netherlands, as well as its largest city. It sees approximately 3.5 million visitors per year and the number of attractions in the city explains why. Amsterdam is famous for its museums. Some of these are very well known, while others are not so well known, but also worth visiting.

Make sure that you visit Rijksmuseum that contains many artifacts, as well as paintings by artists such as Rembrandt. Stedelijk contains major collections of modern art dating from about 1880. The Van Gogh Museum is another well known museum that should be high on your list of places to see. Following these famous museums, you can also visit Rembrandt's House, the Amsterdam Historical Museum, the Maritime Museum and the Amstelkring Our Lord in the Attic which is a little church in the attic of a canal house in the heart of the red light district.

Other fascinating attractions include Anne Frank's House, the Heineken Brewery or the Artis Zoo. Dam Square is a must-see. It is not beautiful by any means, but is has a fascinating history. Part of Dam Square is the Royal Palace which is a striking piece of architecture.

If you are looking for a relaxing break from the bustle of the city, Begijnhof is the place to go. It is a large peaceful hidden courtyard with an old English church (the Oude Kerk), as well as the oldest house in Amsterdam, dating back to 1475. There are many other hidden courtyards around the city. The Hortus Horticultural Gardens are a small, but pleasant oasis in the city.

Amsterdam has become known as the Venice of the North for all of its canals. You cannot visit Amsterdam without taking a boat cruise or a canal tour. This can take you along any of the main city center canals or some of the smaller ones. While on the canals, make sure to appreciate some of Amsterdam's 1280 bridges. The most famous of these is the Magere Brug which is a traditional double-leaf Dutch draw-bridge. Also an intrinsic part of Amsterdam is its windmills. You can view eight windmills right in the heart of city and trip to Holland would not be complete without visiting at least one of them.

There are a variety of accommodation options in Amsterdam. It contains five star luxury landmark hotels, such as the old historic Hotel Krasnapolsky and Amstel Hotel or the modern Amsterdam Hilton. Otherwise you can choose a cozy little hotel on the banks of one of the canals. As hotels are becoming more difficult to find, bed and breakfasts are becoming more popular. Holiday rental apartments are available throughout the city and these are an appropriate choice for those who are looking for more space and privacy or who enjoy self-catering. Youth hostels are a good option for those on a budget, especially students and backpackers. If you are visiting during the summer months, you may decide to stay at a camping ground. If you are worried about the weather, make sure to choose grounds that offer bungalows as well.

Types of Brand: Part 1

There are, in fact, many different types of brands each with its own recognisable features. The following characterises the essential features:

A Premium Brand - Compared with other products in the same category, the price is pitched at a premium. The age group that is identified more than any other with premium brands is that of the 30-65 grouping. Furthermore, this age sector continues to increase in its receptiveness.

An Economy Brand – This is a brand that is targeted, which means that it is focusing on a specific market rather than following the marketing strategy of mass marketing, to a high price elasticity market segment. The price elasticity of demand is a measure of how the quantity demanded is affected by changes in price. It is measured as elasticity. Water is an example of a product that has inelastic demand in that people will pay anything for it. Conversely, sugar is very elastic since, as the price of sugar increases, people will turn to other products, such as saccharin, which are treated as sugar substitutes.

A Fighting Brand - It is a brand that is created specifically to act as a challenge against the threat from a competitive product. A typical example is a low-priced manufacturer’s brand sold with the minimum amount of advertising. This brand is designed to compete with the dealers' brands.

Corporate Branding - This refers to a company that uses its own name as the designated name to be used on a product brand. This means that the product and the company name become the brand name. An excellent example is the drink Coca Cola.

Family Branding – It involves selling a number of products, which are related to each other in some way, under one brand name. It differs from individual branding whereby each product is given an individual brand name. Product quality is an important facet. Should one product within the range prove unsatisfactory, it could reduce sales of all the others. This feature figures prominently in Family Branding.

Individual Branding – When all a company's products are given their own individual brand names. Each product has its own image and identity, and it is this that constitutes the added value. A case in point is that of Coca-Cola and Bacardi Mixers. They both have their own brand name, and so can be identified individually, but are owned and marketed by the Coca-Cola Co.

Brand Leveraging – A company can use the brand equity inherent in an existing brand name in order to introduce a new product or product line. Hence, consider the case of an existing range of products. Should another product be added and it was found that this was of better quality than the other products in the range. This would be characterised as trading up or brand leveraging.

Co-Branding – This involves at least two brands working in association with each other in order to market their products. Ingredient co-branding is a particular form of co-branding. Examples include:

Betty Crocker’s brownie mix contains Hershey’s chocolate syrup

Dell Computers are built with Intel Processors

Pillsbury Brownies are made with Nestle Chocolate
